The Hajj Journey
The fifth pillar of Islam, is sacred and obligatory upon every adult Muslim who is able to fulfill the duty. It is a rare opportunity for you to embark on a profound spiritual expedition, a journey to the holiest city in Islam, Mecca.
Like the other important practices in Islam, Hajj comes with its own step-by-step instructions that must be followed patiently during this holy journey.
Ihram Begin your Hajj journey with a sincere intention to enter the state of Ihram and perform the rituals of Hajj, by reciting the Talbiyah. Then put on the Ihram garments.
As soon as you enter Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Qudum by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times. Then pray two Rak'ahs of the Tawaf behind the Maqam Ibrahim (if possible).
Perform Sa'i between Safa and Marwah, walking seven times, starting from Safa and ending at Marwah.
Go to Mina on the morning of the 8th of Dhul-Hijjah and spend the night there, allocating your time for prayer and supplication until the morning of the 9th.
Arafah (Day of Great Hajj)
On the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, go to Arafat and dedicate yourself to Allah on this day until sunset.
After sunset on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, proceed to Muzdalifah where you will spend the night and collect seven stones for the upcoming Jamarat rituals.
Peel Jamrat Al-Aqabah On the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (the Day of Eid), return to Mina and peel Jamrat Al-Aqabah with seven stones while reciting Takbeer.
Make an Adhahi offering to get closer to Allah.
It is important to share the Adhahi with those who are in need.
Shave or cut your hair. After that, remove the Ihram and change into your regular clothes.
Return to Makkah and perform Tawaf Al-Ifada by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times and then offering prayers (rakat) behind Maqam Ibrahim (if possible).
Return to Mina and take part in the peeling of the three Jamarat (Jamrat Al-Aqabah – the largest pillar, Jamrat Al-Wusta, and Jamrat Al-Sughra) on the 11th, 12th and optionally 13th of Dhul-Hijjah.
Before leaving Makkah, perform the Tawaf Al-Wadaa by circumambulating the Kaaba seven times.
